Evie Silvers is the new account executive, handling sales and sales management functions. Jordan Ryder is the new operations manager, responsible for all exhibitor and sponsor-related operational issues. Glenna Daily is the new administrative coordinator, a newly expanded role, and she will manage the company's day-to-day administrative duties. Van Nuys-based home electronics distributor AVAD LLC recently appointed Tony Orcutt as its regional sales manager for the company's Dealer-to-Builder program. The program links builders with electronic systems contractors to install AVAD's systems in homes nationwide. Orcutt worked the past several years with local, regional and national builders to initiate and implement contracts and programs for Beam Industries Central Vacuum Systems in Webster City, Iowa. The Carrier Corp. a climate-control company based in Connecticut, recently inducted late San Fernando Valley contractor Julian Kahn into its hall of fame. Kahn founded Kahn Air Conditioning in 1961 after getting out of the Air Force. His son David Kahn, the company's current president, accepted the award on his father's behalf at the Carrier National Factory Authorized Dealer's Meeting in Orlando, Fla. Kahn also received Carrier's President's Award, the highest honor available for contractors that sell Carrier brand equipment. Based in Northridge, Kahn Air is one of the oldest contractors in the Los Angeles area. The board of directors of the Woodland Hills-based California Wellness Foundation recently appointed Peggy Saika as its chairwoman and Elizabeth M. Gomez as its vice chairwoman. Saika joined the board in 1997 and is the executive director of Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy. Gomez has served on the board since 2005 and is executive director of the Los Angeles Youth Network. The California Wellness Foundation's goal is to improve health by making grants for health promotion, wellness education and disease prevention. D&X Enterprises recently opened its second retail store, Thousand Oaks Fans & Lighting, in Thousand Oaks. The store is at 1125 E.
