A recent nationwide study of hospital quality named Providence Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills among the top 5percent of U.S. hospitals. For this, Holy Cross earned HealthGrades' 2007 Distinguished Hospital Award for Clinical Excellence. HealthGrades conducts the study every year, and this is the second year Holy Cross has scored in the top 5percent.

Valley Community Clinic in North Hollywood has hired two officers to its executive staff. Judi Rose returns to the clinic after serving as director of development at the Economic Alliance of the San Fernando Valley and then at Aviva Family and Children's Services in Hollywood. The clinic has also hired Susan Dion as its chief operating officer. Dion was executive director of the Women's Clinic and Family Counseling Center in West Los Angeles for more than 10 years, and before that she was director of the Surgical Center and the Clinic for Planned Parenthood in Santa Monica.

Encino-based advertising agency and media organization Inter/Media Advertising recently promoted Kevin Szymanski to vice president of client services and paid programing. In his new role, he handles some of the agency's key accounts and oversees its infomercial department. Szymanski came to Inter/Media in 2001 as an account executive. He began his career handling all aspects of advertising for an independent record label, then joined Premiere Radio Networks and became the liaison between Premiere and Clear Channel radio stations.

Ron Feder, principal of Lee and Associates, has just surpassed $4million in transactions in the San Fernando Valley and nearby. The largest of the deals was a $3.25million sale of a two-story, 29,000-foot industrial building at 7950 Woodley Ave. in Van Nuys to Malibu Court LLC.

Palisades MediaGroup in Santa Monica recently hired Toluca Lake resident Susie Thomas as its senior vice president, director of research and insights. Thomas will be responsible for research and the development and implementation of proprietary tools. Before joining Palisades, Thomas served as associate director, OMD Ignition in Los Angeles. While there, she managed and led all media groups and new business pitches for their strategic planning process.

The home health company Assisted Home Care is now offering a ``Holistic Pathways'' program, in addition to its medical and private duty caregivers and hospice, to the San Fernando and Conejo valleys. The Holistic Pathways program involves using several innovative techniques to improve people's health. Along with the original office in North Hills, Assisted now has seven offices in California and Arizona.
