Utah-based Listen Technologies Corp. has appointed Tim Schaeffer of Simi Valley as vice president of strategic development. He will research, plan and develop business opportunities and oversee Listen's product road map. Schaeffer previously was vice president of sales for Americas for Otari Corp. From 1980 to 1995, he owned and managed New West Audio.

Warner Home Video recently named Doug Regan senior vice president of worldwide strategic planning and international finance. Regan comes to Warner Home Video from Warner Bros.' Corporate Business Development and Strategy, where he spent 11 years focusing on investments and acquisitions, cross-divisional initiatives, business development, long-term planning and investor presentations.

The Valley Industry and Commerce Association has hired Aaron Green of Studio City as its legislative affairs manager. Green previously worked in the nonprofit, legal and health-care fields. He also served as an intern for the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations.

Wells Fargo recently donated more than $1 million to nonprofit organizations and schools in the San Fernando Valley, part of the $91.8 million contributed nationwide. Local recipients included Los Angeles Jewish Home for the Aging, New Horizons in North Hills, Glendale Memorial Health Foundation, Valley Community Clinic, Max of a Million Dreams Foundation for Cancer Research, More Than Shelter for Seniors in Burbank, Chase Richards Foundation in Calabasas, Shelter for the Homeless in Chatsworth and the Valley Economic Development Center Inc. This is the sixth consecutive year Wells Fargo has donated more than $10 million to Los Angeles-area nonprofits. Last year, the Los Angeles Business Journal ranked Wells Fargo as Los Angeles County's top corporate donor to charitable organizations.

For the sixth consecutive year, the Valley Economic Development Center is partnering with the Internal Revenue Service to help low-income families with free tax help.

The VEDC will offer assistance from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday through April 12 at the Pacoima Development Federal Credit Union, 13168 Van Nuys Blvd., and San Fernando Learning Center, 1240 Truman St., No.150, San Fernando.

Tax assistance will also be offered from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturdays as well as Wednesdays at the VEDC office, 5121 Van Nuys Blvd., Third Floor, Van Nuys.

The Bookstein Tax Clinic at California State University, Northridge recently launched its free federal tax controversy resolution services to low-income taxpayers.

Under the supervision of experienced tax professionals, undergraduate and graduate student clinicians will serve low-income taxpayers who face disputes with the IRS.
