BITE CLUB; EXCLUSIVE GLASVEGAS GET THEIR TEETH INTO CRACKING CHRISTMAS SONGS IN SPOOKY HAUNTS OF COUNT DRACULA.

Byline: By MICKEY McMONAGLE

ROCKERS Glasvegas called in from their favourite haunt yesterday - a recording studio in spooky Transylvania.

The band are recording a Christmas album in Dracula's backyard and guitarist Rab Allan - brother of frontman front·man

The seasonal record is inspired by the band's hero Phil Spector - who released A Christmas Gift For You in 1963.

And Rab reckons it boasts better tracks than their blistering self-titled debut album.

He said: "Recording is going really well. We did some stuff in New York New York, state, United States

"It sounds like Glasvegas but the songs James has written are based on Christmas themes - that time of year, how people feel.

"I find some of it quite moving in terms of the lyrics. Like the first record, some of it is very hard hitting and really rings true. It looks at the darker side of Christmas. That's not to say it isn't a happy time, it's just this is our take on it.

The songs are incredible - some are definitely better than what's on What's On (Traditional Chinese: 熒幕八爪娛) is a weekly half-hour TV series that airs on Fairchild Television. Format

 the first album.

"James' songwriting has developed a lot and he has a much clearer vision of where he is going and what he is doing."

Rab admits Transylvania has had a major impact - because it feels like Christmas for the band.

He said: "Recording here is great, it just feels right.

"I don't know why but this country just makes it feel like Christmas.

"Everywhere you look there are castles and churches and all the things you associate with that time of year. Plus it's freezing.

"Being in a band means you go places you would not see otherwise. Romania is absolutely beautiful.

"It is amazing and the people are so friendly. I love it.

"We had to build our own studio, brought over a lot of equipment, rented a space and put it all in there ourselves.

"It was actually really easy so we may well do something like this again."

Glasvegas - Rab, James, Paul Donoghue and Caroline McKay - plan to release a track to compete for the Christmas No.1.

Rab said: "One song called Please Come Back Home is beautiful and I think that will be the single.

"It would be nice to get the Christmas No.1 but we are not expecting it - we all know the X Factor winner will get it.

"It's like with the album, everyone thought we would be No.1 but we knew it would be Metallica - they have sold 90 million albums."

The band hope to debut the new songs at the Tennent's Mutual shows at Dumfries's Venue on October 30 and Ayr Town Hall the next night.

Rab said: "I am not sure if we'll manage to get them ready but if we can, we will.

"At the big tour at the end of the year we'll definitely do a few of the new songs."

Glasvegas claimed they may not make another album after the Christmas record - but Rab admits the new work is on the way.

He said: "We will not do another album until James feels the time is right - and if the new stuff isn't as good we won't do it. You are selling people short otherwise.

"But I know James will come back with something great."
