BISP officials should serve programme beneficiaries with dedication and devotion.

PESHAWAR, November 15, 2009 (Balochistan Times): Monthly meeting of Divisional Directors of Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) in the Province/FATA was held at Director General Office Peshawar to review the progress of various schemes and initiatives launched under the Program. Director General, Dr. Ikram Ghani told the participants that the program has been able to achieve its target and its overall performance in the short span of time is satisfactory. He asked the Directors to give top priority to filling-in of Poverty Score Cards of beneficiaries who have been pre-qualified for Waseela e Haq scheme in the Random Computer Balloting so that these cases could be processed at the earliest. He also asked them to make good use of this opportunity of contact with the beneficiaries and the general public to educate them about the Program. Director General asked participants to obtain the latest lists of all Bomb Blast and Act of terrorism victims and register the affected families so that they can get financial assistance from BISP without any delay. The main impediment in registering these affected families for the Package is that the lists of affectees received from concerned DCOs and police officers are incomplete and do not contain complete addresses of the families. He asked them to keep constant liaison with all the concerned departments to obtain latest information and reach the affected families as early as possible. He said that all the employees of BISP should keep regular contact with beneficiaries and make ensure that the financial aid is provided to them within given time. In this regard field supervisors were directed to have liaison with Pakistan post, and visit post offices to check the status of payments to beneficiaries. He also requested the beneficiaries to contact their Divisional Directors in case of any complaint. He told the participants that the BISP beneficiaries are the pivot around which everything revolves and as such everyone in the Program is expected to extend all possible courtesy to the beneficiaries and strive to resolve all their genuine grievances. Director General told that BISP is the major program of the present Government in social sector which is being run, managed and controlled by the Government through its own employees. The main distinction of BISP is its transparency and excellent performance which has been appreciated by the World Bank and International organizations. Participants of the conference ensured their best participation and they will render their services in best possible way.
