BIRTHDAY BASH; GROUPS SET TO FETE ISRAEL AT 50.

It's a birthday party Jewish-style as the Rejoice! Youth Choir, along with Israel's first lady of song, Chava Albertstein, singer-songwriter Craig Taubman and others will celebrate Israel at age 50.

``I think it's great to celebrate this milestone anniversary and look forward to many more positive milestones for the future,'' said Oren Gabriel, 13, a member of the youth choir from Oak Park.

``Rejoice! Celebrating Israel at 50'' is a multimedia extravaganza of Jewish music Jewish music, the music of Jews, is quite diverse and dates back thousands of years. Sometimes it is religious in nature, other times it is not. This is because Jews are both a religion and a nation. The music of Jews vary greatly depending on origins.  and folklore commemorating 50 years of Israeli statehood state·hood

. Featured performers Albertstein, a celebrated musical artist in Israel, and popular Israeli TV and recording stars Duo Re'im will be performing traditional and contemporary music with a Jewish flair.

Los Angles-based Craig Taubman, named one of the top 10 children's recording artists of 1998 by Billboard, will perform songs from his two CDs, ``My Jewish Discovery'' and the recent sequel, ``My Newish Jewish Discovery.''

``The fun-filled songs I call `kiddish and Yiddish,' '' said Taubman. ``Other songs are deeply spiritual and embrace the challenges of life.''

The event will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Fred Kavli Fred Kavli, b. 1927, is a naturalized American physicist, business leader, innovator, and philanthropist. The Rejoice! Youth Choir, with children ages 8 to 16, was specially organized for the event. The 100-member choir includes young singing talent from a dozen synagogues in the Conejo Valley The Conejo Valley is a region spanning both Southeastern Ventura County and Northwest Los Angeles County in Southern California, United States. The youth choir is conducted by Tova Morcos, a conductor-pianist for singers and cantors throughout the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area.  and founder of the University of Judaism Concert Singers. For the concert, Morcos has selected music that will reflect the evolution of Israel as a state.

``The first half of the show will reflect the pioneer spirit,'' said Morcos. ``The second half reflects modern-day Israel with the hope of brotherhood and bringing people together on the planet.''

Modern-day Israel also will be celebrated in images by photographer Eric Lawton in a slide show presentation.

``The pioneers carved a place for themselves out of the desert,'' said Morcos. ``Their spirit kept them going and their persistence. That's still true today.''

The event is presented by the Jewish Federation/Valley Alliance, which represents 250,000 Jews living in the Conejo, San Fernando San Fernando, city, Argentina
