Sales for the first quarter of 1997 were $134,405, compared to $143,615 reported for the same period a year earlier. The net loss was $767,734, or $0.06 a share, in 1997 compared to a net loss of $496,718, or $0.04 a share, for the comparable period last year. "The first quarter, as expected, was a period of stepped-up activity in preparation for the introduction of two major BIOLASE products," said Donald A.
