BIOLASE TECHNOLOGY Announces Appointment of Vice President of Global Sales and Expansion of Sales Force.

SAN CLEMENTE, Calif.--(BW HealthWire)--Jan. 13, 1999--BIOLASE TECHNOLOGY, INC. (Nasdaq:BLTI) today announced that it has successfully recruited Keith G. Bateman as Vice President of Global Sales. Bateman is a proven executive with extensive experience in the aesthetic and dental laser markets in both domestic and international sales. Bateman held key executive positions with HGM Medical Laser's international and domestic divisions. HGM is a world leader in manufacturing and marketing of a wide range of medical lasers having sold thousands of systems worldwide.

Bateman also spent several years in sales, marketing and management in the computer industry. Bateman also served as a Foreign Service Officer with the Department of State for nine years. During this time he was assigned and resided as a diplomat for several years in Thailand, Costa Rica and Washington, D.C. He is a graduate of the University of Utah.

Also, further strengthening BIOLASE's domestic sales force, Richard Shock, Director of National Dental Sales, announced the strategic addition of three seasoned, proven high tech dental sales people. Phillip Chiappe, Richard Frankenberg and Christopher Stromwall, all formerly with Premier Laser Systems, Inc., have joined BIOLASE. Chiappe has 20 years experience in dental sales, including five years selling dental lasers. Frankenberg has 20 years experience selling health care devices including eight years of dental laser sales. Stromwall has been in dental sales for 12 years, selling dental laser systems for the last three years.
