BIO-KEY SIGNS CONTRACT VALUED OVER $65,000.BIO-key International, Inc. (BULLETIN BOARD: BKYI), a leader in finger-based biometric identification and wireless public safety solutions, has been awarded a contract valued at more than $65,000 for PacketCluster Server and PacketCluster(TM) Patrol(R) software licenses with the Brown County, MN Sheriff's Department. Public safety officers in Brown County will use the silent, secure and reliable data communication capability of PacketCluster Patrol to access criminal justice databases such as NCIC NCIC - National Crime Information Center NCIC - National Cancer Institute of Canada NCIC - National Cartographic Information Center NCIC - National Construction Industry Council NCIC - Network Centric Innovation Center NCIC - Network Control Interface Channel NCIC - North Carolina Industrial Commission NCIC - Northern Colorado Internet Cooperative, DMV and NLETS NLETS - National Law Enforcement Telecommunications System, and to send and receive messages from dispatch and other duty officers. Brown County is a large rural area about 85 miles southwest of the twin cities metropolitan area. This purchase has been funded through a Federal COPS Technology grant and the Brown County Criminal Justice Aid revenue fund. Once the system is installed, every police department in Brown County will be able to utilize the powerful features that the BIO-key PacketCluster system provides. Since parts of the county are very isolated the PacketCluster system will also increase the safety of officers and the community with the added benefit of allowing those officers to spend more time on the street and less time completing paperwork. After the initial deployment is complete, the county is considering adding additional licenses and well as expanding the BIO-key system See key telephone system. to include software modules for report writing and other productivity enhancing applications.
