BIO-IMAGING TECHNOLOGIES, INC. APPOINTS WILLIAM A. WEGENER, M.D., PH.D. TO THE NEWLY CREATED POSITION OF MEDICAL DIRECTOR

 WEST TRENTON, N.J., June 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Bio-Imaging Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ Small Cap Market: BITI), a company which provides medical imaging-related research and consulting services to pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device companies, announced today that William A. Wegener, M.D., Ph.D., previously Director, New Technologies, has assumed the position of Medical Director.
 As Medical Director, Dr. Wegener will oversee clinical aspects of imaging studies the Company conducts on its clients' behalf. In addition, Dr. Wegener will direct the Company's Advanced Technologies Development Group, which develops new imaging hardware and software to study drug effects. Under Dr. Wegener's direction, this group has recently developed new cardiac image analysis software and specialized photographic equipment for the quantitative analysis of wound healing agents.
 Dr. Wegener is a board-certified nuclear medicine specialist and holds a Ph.D. in biophysics. An author of over 30 research papers and review articles, he received his M.D. from the University of Miami School of Medicine and his Ph.D. from the University of Texas.
 In addition to Dr. Wegener, the Company's medical and technical staff currently oversee projects for cancer imaging and therapeutics, cardiovascular diagnostics and therapeutics, central nervous system therapeutics, MRI contrast agents, bone agents and dermal ulcer agents.
 Bio-Imaging Technologies of West Trenton applies advanced technologies such as magnetic resonance imaging, radionuclide imaging and computer-assisted image analysis to visualize and measure drug and medical device effects during the clinical development and pre-clinical testing process. The Company's technology can help to accelerate the development and regulatory review of new therapeutic and diagnostic agents and devices by providing more precise analyses from a smaller number of study subjects. The Company also applies its digital image management expertise to develop interactive regulatory submissions and image-based medical communications.
