BIO-IMAGING TECHNOLOGIES, INC., APPOINTS WILLIAM J. FITZPATRICK PRESIDENT AND CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

 WEST TRENTON, N.J., Jan. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Bio-Imaging Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: BITI), a company providing specialized research and consulting services to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device industries, announced today the appointment of William J. Fitzpatrick, a senior executive from the medical equipment and healthcare industries, to the position of president and chief operating officer.
 Fitzpatrick will assume responsibility for company operations. James J. Conklin, M.D., will continue as CEO and chairman. Fitzpatrick brings to Bio-Imaging Technologies senior management experience in marketing, sales and operations management as well as significant entrepreneurial experience in the healthcare field. He joins Bio-Imaging Technologies as the company expands its core business and continues strategic growth.
 Since its June 1992 follow-on public offering, the company has expanded operations, added to its technical and business staff, and increased its client base. The company's clients include Adria Laboratories, Cytogen Corporation, Immunomedics, Inc., and Warner- Lambert Company.
 On Jan. 7, 1993, the company announced a letter of intent to acquire a New Jersey-based medical communication firm. Completion of this transaction will expand commercial applications of its core image- processing technology.

 Fitzpatrick was general manager of Cottrell, Ltd. of Englewood, Colo., a multi-division manufacturer of infection control products. Previously, he was group vice president of marketing at Henry Schein, Inc., a major distributor of consumable medical products. Fitzpatrick was also vice president of marketing and sales at Pelton and Crane- Division of Siemens, a major manufacturer of radiographic equipment. In addition, he has held marketing and sales management positions with Johnson & Johnson and American Hospital Supply Corporation.
 Fitzpatrick, a graduate of Seton Hall University, currently resides in Yardley, Pa.
 Bio-Imaging Technologies, Inc., of West Trenton, provides specialized research and consulting services to pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device companies. The company applies advanced technologies such as magnetic resonance imaging, nuclear medicine and fiberoscopy to visualize and measure drug and medical device effects during the clinical development and pre-clinical testing process. The company's technology helps to accelerate the development and regulatory review of new therapeutic and diagnostic agents and devices by providing more precise analyses from a smaller number of study subjects. The company also applies its technology to develop computerized regulatory submissions and image-based medical communications.
