 BIO-DYNE ANNOUNCES EXPANSION; PURCHASES 100,000-SQUARE-FOOT
MANUFACTURING FACILITY; PURCHASES POWDER PAINTING OPERATIONS
ATLANTA, Dec. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Bio-Dyne Corporation (NASDAQ: BODY, BODYW) today announced it has signed a definitive agreement to purchase a nearly 100,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Atlanta.
The new facility is approximately double that of the two separate buildings in which the company currently has its fabricating and assembly operations, each of which occupy approximately 28,000 square feet and 21,000 square feet, respectively. The move is scheduled to commence Feb. 1, 1992, and is expected to be completed by March 31, 1992.
"The larger, more efficient manufacturing facilities, as well as the consolidation of the company's fabricating and assembly operations, should assist Bio-Dyne in dramatically increasing production and will eliminate various duplicate functions and current expenses related to the transporting of manufactured products from one building to another. Furthermore, the new facility will have ample warehouse space for finished products which will stabilize seasonal production schedules and enhance newly established marketing programs," said William E. York, Bio-Dyne president and chairman.
In a separate transaction, Bio-Dyne purchased certain assets of Mallin Manufacturing, including its powder painting operations which will be located in the new building. The acquiring of powder painting capabilities will further facilitate the efficiencies of the company's manufacturing of its products. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Atlanta-based Bio-Dyne Corporation manufactures, markets and distributes multi-station home gyms, exercise equipment machines, weight benches and specialty free weight equipment. Its products are offered through approximately 125 unaffiliated dealers in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Japan.
