BILLY: I'LL END HAMPDEN JINX.BILLY MEHMET Billy Mehmet (born 3 January 1984) is an Irish professional footballer for Scottish Premier League club St Mirren. A London born forward, Billy began his career with West Ham United where he was captain of the youth team before transferring to Dunfermline Athletic F.C. has suffered Hampden heartache twice but hopes to make it third time lucky with St Mirren this season. The striker was an unused sub when Dunfermline lost the 2004 Scottish Cup The Scottish Football Association Challenge Cup[1], usually known as the Scottish Cup, is the national cup knockout competition in Scottish football. The trophy awarded to the winners has the distinction of being the oldest national trophy in the world. Final to Celtic and part of the Buddies side beaten 3-0 by Rangers in last term's semi. Now he wants to make amends by helping fire St Mirren to the Co-op Cup Final - starting with this week's tie away to Ayr. Mehmet said: "It would be great to reach Hampden again and this time hopefully win." |
