BILL M. THOMPSON NAMED DIRECTOR OF NOBLE DRILLING CORPORATION

 HOUSTON, July 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Noble Drilling Corporation today announced the appointment of B. M. (Bill) Thompson, 60, to its board of directors.
 Thompson brings with him almost 40 years of diversified domestic and international energy experience covering the entire spectrum of upstream to downstream operations. Thompson recently retired as the vice chairman of Phillips Petroleum Company. Various assignments with Phillips included executive vice president of downstream operations, senior vice president of planning and technology, vice president of planning and development and manager of worldwide drilling and production.
 Thompson holds a B.S. degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and is a Registered Professional Engineer. He is a member of numerous industry associations including the American Petroleum Institute, Society of Petroleum Engineers, and the Engineering Foundation Advisory Council for the College of Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin having also served as chairman. Thompson's experience also includes former service as director on three other major industry boards.
 Noble Drilling Corporation is a major drilling contractor with offshore and land operations in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Africa, the Middle East and the Far East.
