The winning of all the tricks during the play of one hand in bridge and other whist-derived card games. 2. Sports The winning of all the major or specified events, especially on a professional circuit. during a 10-1 win over Milwaukee. Don Drysdale Aug. 23, 1970: U.S. swimmer Gary Hall breaks three world records during an AAU AAU abbr. Amateur Athletic Union outdoor meet in Los Angeles. Aug. 24, 1975: The Dodgers' Davey Lopes breaks the major-league record by stealing his 38th consecutive base during a 14-inning loss against Montreal. Aug. 24, 1963: National Little League from Granada Hills beats Original Little League from Stratford, Conn., 2-1 with a run in the top of the seventh to win the 17th Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa. Aug. 25, 1994: Northridge wins the U.S. championship at the 48th Little League World Series with a 3-0 win over Central Springfield of Virginia. Two days later, in a rain-delayed world-title game, Northridge loses to Latin America representative Maraciabo, Venezuela, 4-3. Aug. 28, 1977: The Dodgers' Steve Garvey hits three doubles and two homers (including a grand slam) in five at-bats during the Dodgers' 11-0 win over St. Louis.
