BIG RIGS TO STAR AT DRAG STRIP.

PALMDALE - More than 400 big-rig trucks from the United States United States, officially United States of America, republic (2005 est. pop. 295,734,000), 3,539,227 sq mi (9,166,598 sq km), North America. The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area. , Mexico and Canada are expected this weekend at the 21st annual Trucking for Kids Truck Drags at the Los Angeles County Raceway Los Angeles County Raceway (or "LACR") was a motorsport facility in Southern California. LACR's main feature was its 1/4 mile dragstrip, which was first opened in 1964. LACR held its final event on July 29th, 2007. , 6850 E. Ave. T.

Saturday's events include drag racing drag racing

Form of motor racing in which two contestants race side by side from a standing start over a straight quarter-mile strip of pavement. Winners go on to compete against others in their class until only one is left undefeated.
, a car show and the Extreme Racing Extreme racing involves paddling a kayak down a section of hard whitewater requiring excellent boat handling skills. The rivers are typically class V and involve waterfalls and dangerous rapids. Races may involve mass-starts or individual timed runs.  League, in which some of the best stunt performers in Hollywood will be competing. In the evening, there will be a barbecue and entertainment.

Sunday's slate includes 18-wheeler drag racing, working competition and a big-rig beauty contest. The gates will open at 8 a.m. both days.

Admission to the event is $10 daily, or $15 for both days. Handicapped adults and children under 12 will be admitted free.
