It is operated by the Antelope Valley Community College District, with a primary service area of 1,945 square miles covering portions of Los Angeles and Kern counties. .

Funded primarily by a $139 million bond approved by voters last year, the projects are the beginning of an effort to update the Lancaster campus, which has several buildings more than 40 years old, and to start the initial development of a Palmdale campus.

The overhaul is needed, college officials said, to accommodate rising enrollment, which is expected nearly to double to more than 23,000 students by the year 2015, said AVC (1) (Advanced Video Coding) The video compression techniques used in the H.264 standard, jointly developed by ISO and the ITU-T. College officials are making the rounds of organizations that supported their successful bid last year to pass the bond measure.

``We want to make sure the community knows how we are spending the money,'' said AVC board member Michael Adams

The bonds approved by voters last year will be issued gradually over a number of years, college officials said. They have earmarked $52 million for a Palmdale campus, for which a location is being sought by a company hired by the college.

The first construction project is a new parking lot at the campus's north end to relieve chronic parking congestion The condition of a network when there is not enough bandwidth to support the current traffic load.

. It is hoped the $3.2 million lot will add 1,000 parking spaces by the start of the 2006-2007 school year, said Doug Jensen, director of facilities and campus development.

Work is also scheduled to start this school year on a complex that will house a new operations and maintenance building, a warehouse and new greenhouses for agriculture courses. The $8.9 million project is anticipated to take about two years to complete, Jensen said.

The operations and maintenance building is considered a top priority in part because the existing building is located where the college plans to build a $27.7 million health and science building. Construction on that is tentatively set to start in the 2007-08 school year.

The campus west side will see a major overhaul starting this year with $6.4 million in new athletic fields and a $5.6 million rebuilding of the aging Marauder MARAUDER. The college is in preliminary discussions with the city of Lancaster The City of Lancaster (2002 population: 133,914) is a local government district with city status in Lancashire, England. The city's Rawley Duntley Park is just south of the college's athletic complex.

Also slated to start this year is a $10 million renovation of the student services center. That work will take about three years to complete.

The college is also looking to start making $3.9 million worth of safety, disability access, plumbing and electrical and other improvements to the campus.

College officials said plans for a $12.8 million theater have been approved by the state. The 400-seat theater will also be able to serve as a large lecture hall lecture hall nsala de conferencias;

The theater project will have to wait for California voters to approve a statewide bond, likely next spring, before funding from the state will be available. College officials anticipate design work starting on that project next summer.
