Equinix's Neutral Centers for Strategic Connectivity

Equinix, Inc. (Nasdaq:EQIX), the leading provider of core Internet exchange services, today announced that BIG PIPE Inc. will leverage the neutral environment of Equinix Internet Business Exchange(TM) (IBX(R)) centers to establish peering relationships with a concentration of strategic network and content partners. BIG PIPE is the fiber backbone division of Shaw Communications Inc. (TSE:SJR.B) (NYSE:SJR), Canada's largest broadband service provider with 2.9 million customers. As a part of the agreement, BIG PIPE will sell its industry unique IP services to the critical mass of Internet infrastructure companies participating in Equinix IBX centers. BIG PIPE will begin operations immediately in Equinix's Silicon Valley IBX center, with planned expansion to the center located in the greater Washington, D.C. area.

BIG PIPE will utilize the Equinix GigE Exchange(TM) service, a bundled service designed to facilitate ISP and content peering within IBX centers through a gigabit ethernet central switching fabric. Equinix GigE Exchange offers BIG PIPE a scalable and performance-enhancing interconnection solution that also reduces the costs of interacting with network and content providers in multiple disparate locations.

In addition to leveraging Equinix services to enhance its strategic content and network peering, BIG PIPE will also make available its global network transit services for Equinix IBX customers seeking to purchase bandwidth. BIG PIPE offers services such as Private Line, Transparent LAN, Video Transmission, IP transit, and VPN to the North American business market.
