BIG BROTHER STAR LAUNCHES POSTER CAMPAIGN TO HELP DYSLEXIC CHILDREN.


BIG Brother star Helen Adams Helen Adams (born May 30, 1978 in Cwmbran, South Wales) rose to fame in the UK when she was chosen to be a contestant on the second series of the reality television show Big Brother, in 2001.  yesterday helped to launch a new dyslexia dyslexia (dĭslĕk`sēə), in psychology, a developmental disability in reading or spelling, generally becoming evident in early schooling. To a dyslexic, letters and words may appear reversed, e.g.  campaign featuring the controversial FCUK FCUK French Connection United Kingdom (clothing brand)  slogan.

Helen, a 23-year-old former hairdresser, from Cwmbran, near Newport, unveiled a poster featuring the notorious French Connection logo at the launch of the Dyslexia Institute's Back To School awareness drive in central London The term Central London refers to the districts of London which are considered closest to the centre. There is no such conventional definition, nor any official one, for the entire area that can be called "central London". .

The billboard reads: "FCUK. Dyslexia affects over 2 1 2 million people. Even those in advertising."

Helen said: "I think the campaign is brilliant. I am dyslexic dys·lex·ic or dys·lec·tic

Of or relating to dyslexia.

 and if I can do anything to help to make children's lives a bit easier, I will.

"When I was a teenager I hated being dyslexic and for me it was like a secret military operation to hide my spelling from people.

"It shouldn't be something to be ashamed of.

Children and adults with dyslexia need to believe that anything is possible and that they can be successful."

Shirley Cramer, chief executive of the Dyslexia Institute, said: "It is fabulous to have Helen on board with us for this.

"We are delighted. She is an extraordinarily nice person and we are glad she is willing to talk about this issue.

"The aim of the campaign is to make a difference to those children affected by dyslexia in the education system and make the issue front of mind."

The institute has 25 centres across the country and helps at a further 130 centres, as well as helping to train teachers who work with dyslexic pupils.

The advert was designed and produced by one of Saatchi & Saatchi's creative directors, Chris Arnold Christopher Paul Arnold (born November 6, 1947 in Long Beach, California) is a former infielder in Major League Baseball. He was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 11th round of the 1965 amateur draft, and played for the Giants from 1971 to 1976. , who is himself dyslexic.

A SWANSEA woman was left with serious head injuries after being hit by a car which left the track at a Formula Three race meeting.

The accident at Thruxton race course near Andover, Hants, left the 38-year-old woman with serious head injuries after two vehicles collided as they approached a chicane on the track.

One of the cars apparently lost control and went over the safety barrier and through a chain link fence, flying through the air until it landed on a bank. The French driver was uninjured.

A Hampshire police spokeswoman said the woman appeared to have been hit either by the car or a part from the vehicle.

After the accident, at 5pm on Saturday, the woman was taken to a hospital in Winchester and then transferred to Southampton General Hospital's neurological unit. She was in a "stable" condition yesterday.

AN investigation has been launched after a remand prisoner was found dead in his cell in South Wales.

David Mark Cooper, 29, was found hanged in his cell at Swansea Prison at about 1.30pm on Friday.

Mr Cooper, who is believed to be from the Swansea area, was also known as Peter Cooper.

A Prison Service spokeswoman said: "A prisoner on remand was found hanged in his cell at 1.30pm on Friday.

"Staff attempted resuscitation resuscitation /re·sus·ci·ta·tion/ (-sus?i-ta´shun) restoration to life of one apparently dead.
