BIG BANGS ON HORIZON.

Byline: Photograph by Chris Pietsch / The Register-Guard

A helicopter carries an array of electrical insulators away from a 130-foot tower as linemen for Wilson Construction work Tuesday on a transmission line upgrade at the Bonneville Power Administration substation near Goshen. Residents within a half-mile of the power lines south of Eugene and Springfield will hear several loud explosions Thursday and Friday as crews install new, higher capacity lines near the substation. The explosive devices implode, binding two cables together, said Mike Roan (left) of the BPA. Story, Page F3.
