BIG/ip2 keeps your Web site awake while you sleep; The best price/performance up-time insurance for a high traffic Web site.

SEATTLE--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 12, 1997--F5 Labs begins shipping BIG/ip2 following the successful roll-out of their first product, BIG/ip, at Networld's Interop '97. BIG/ip2 is a dual configuration system of two specially enhanced BIG/ip controllers coupled by a serial cable to eliminate a potential single point-of-failure in a Web site. And like its predecessor, BIG/ip2 transforms a series of stand-alone servers into a single-scaleable-virtual server to deliver dynamic content fast and reliably -- guaranteed 24 hours a day -- 7 days a week!

If failure of the primary unit should occur, the fail-safe controller will take over in less than 3 seconds. The primary unit reboots itself, logs the system error, and becomes the fail-safe system. Both controllers have identical configuration and house redundant power supplies and watch dog cards.

Designed for System Administrators. For additional flexibility, BIG/ip2 is accessible remotely via secure, encrypted access. With every unit, BIG/ip2 includes a commercial version of F-Secure SSH (Secure SHell) A security protocol for logging into a remote server. SSH provides an encrypted session for transferring files and executing server programs. Also serving as a secure client/server connection for applications such as database access and e-mail, SSH supports a  from Data Fellows -- the number one secure access software on the market. Tails Are Wagging. The first installation of BIG/ip2 proves the flexibility and stability of its design at HappyPuppy. "As the No. 1 Game Site on the Web, 100% up-time and performance are keys to our success," comments Diogenes Osborne, Producer. "BIG/ip2 guarantees our site is always available to our customers -- no bones about it!"

Small or Large Web Site -- It Must Always Be Up. With BIG/ip2, a large network site is as easy to manage as a small one. "Too often we forget that the cost of hardware and software is only a fraction of the total investment in a Web site," says F5 Labs' President, Jeff Hussey. "In addition to capital investment are the expenses of creative design, programming, system administration and maintaining compelling and current content. With these kind of expenditures, the Web site must always be up. It's no longer an option. BIG/ip2 ensures Web site stability and reliability at multiple levels."
