BID launches improvement incentive program.

In an effort to continue to upgrade the look of the Fashion District, the Fashion Center BID has developed a menu of innovative property improvement incentive programs to encourage owners and retailers to make simple but important enhancements to their premises.

The "Make a Grand Entrance" program offers a monetary incentive of $1,000 per improvement to those property owners and businesses who undertake the certain pre-approved improvements to their buildings such as: a new sidewalk A Microsoft service that was launched in 1997 to provide online arts and entertainment guides on the Web for major cities worldwide. Due to its popularity, the program was renewed for the 2007-2008 fiscal year. To date, 15 property improvements have been completed or scheduled as a result of the program.

"We look at this investment by the Fashion Center as a way toward helping to upgrade the properties in the district. Simple building elements are crucial to the overall appeal of a property and have a direct impact on market rents and the ability to attract new tenants and customers, "said Barbara Randall, executive director of the Fashion Center BID. "Repairs and cosmetic changes can mean the difference between a truly profitable property and one that fails to reach potential."

Kaufman announced at the organization's Annual Meeting that the BID is making a special offer to Eighth Avenue retailers. For a limited time, the FCBID FCBID Fashion Center Business Improvement District (Manhattan, NY)  will design, fabricate and install new signage for any Eighth Avenue ground floor retailer.

"Owners on Eighth Avenue have been investing in their buildings, and many of the lobbies are now truly beautiful. However, retail storefront signage on Eighth Avenue continues to be an issue," said Kaufman.

"Attractive signage can have a dramatic impact on the appearance of a building or shop. This enhancement exemplifies the type of forward-thinking property investment that is helping to revitalize re·vi·tal·ize
