BIBBY DENIES ALLEGED RECRUITING PAYMENT USC COACH SAYS ASSISTANT DID NOT OFFER MONEY TO LAND STAR PLAYER.

Byline: Vincent Bonsignore Staff Writer

USC An abbreviation for U.S. Code.  men's basketball coach Henry Bibby Charles Henry Bibby (born November 24, 1949 in Franklinton, North Carolina) is a former professional basketball player and current assistant coach with the Philadelphia 76ers of the National Basketball Association (NBA).  is denying an allegation that one of his assistants offered money to a junior college coach to help recruit one of his players.

College of Southern Idaho Southern Idaho is a generic geographical term roughly analogous with the areas of the U.S. state of Idaho located in the Mountain Time Zone. It particularly refers to the combined areas of the Boise metropolitan area, the Magic Valley and Eastern Idaho.  coach Derek Zeck said Wednesday that USC assistant David Miller David Miller could refer to any of the following:
  • David Miller (architect), University of Washington, Seattle Professor, FAIA
  • David Miller (Canadian politician), mayor of Toronto
  • David Miller (darts player), an American professional darts player
made the offer at the Adidas Double Pump camp July 28-30 at Cal State Northridge to help USC land forward Jerry Dupree, a 6-foot-7 sophomore.

``He said, `I'll write you a check to donate to your booster club to recruit and get Jerry,' '' Zeck said. ``I said, `I don't do "I Don't Do" was the debut single by glamour model Michelle Marsh, released on 6 November 2006. The single reached 27 in the UK in its first week, selling only 9,000 copies and over 16,000 copies as of January 2007. The single spend a total of four weeks in the Top 75.  that.' ''

On Thursday, Bibby issued a statement through the USC sports information office disputing the claim.

``The statements made by Derek Zeck regarding our recruitment of one of his former players, Jerry Dupree, at the College of Southern Idaho are completely false. Neither I nor anyone on my staff offered any money to Mr. Zeck while we were recruiting Mr. Dupree. Mr. Zeck's allegations that we offered money for access to Mr. Dupree are totally false.

``We have worked very hard as a staff to build the USC basketball program into one of the most competitive in the Pac-10, if not the nation, and we have done so by following the rules.''

Miller declined to comment.

On Thursday, Beck did not retract TO RETRACT. To withdraw a proposition or offer before it has been accepted.

Dupree left Southern Idaho last week and is now enrolled at San Bernardino Valley College San Bernardino Valley College is a community college located in San Bernardino, California. It is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. The two-year college has an enrollment of approximately 1,540, and covers 82 acres. . Dupree, who is from Pomona, plans to sit out next season to preserve his three years of eligibility.

A source close to the situation told the Daily News on Thursday that Zeck is upset that USC coaches persuaded Dupree to leave Southern Idaho. The source also said Beck had a falling out with San Bernardino coach John Smith, an assistant under Beck last year.

``They didn't really get along,'' the source said.

Dupree has not committed to USC. If he does, it will give the Trojans another impact player to join Bishop Montgomery twins Errick and Derrick Craven and 6-11 center Rory O'Neil from Burroughs Ridgecrest, all of whom have committed to USC for 2001 to give the Trojans one of the top early classes in the nation.

``This guy's a big-time player,'' said David Pump of Double Pump Inc., a scouting service.

Pump, who conducted the camp at which the alleged incident took place, said he was unaware of any money being offered.

``If (Miller) said it, maybe he was just joking around. Sometimes people say things just trying to be funny,'' Pump said. ``But I don't know Don't know (DK, DKed)
