BIA Digital Partners invests $10 million in Eli Research.

Amid an over five-year span of aggressive growth through acquisitions, Eli Research (Raleigh, NC) is poised for further expansion courtesy of a mezzanine investment of $10 million by private investment firm BIA Digital Partners (Chantilly, VA), Eli said the money will be used to help finance its ongoing "strategic initiatives."

Founded in 1992, Eli Research is a research and information company with more than 120 print and online publications, teleconferences and audio learning products, primarily for the healthcare sector as well as for the law and litigation, and financial services sectors. Recent major acquisitions made by Eli include the purchases of: The Coding Institute (Naples, FL), a provider of education, examinations and certifications to the medical coding profession, from management in 2006; Business Publishers, Inc. (Silver Spring, MD), the publisher over 20 newsletters ("Clean Water Report," "Nuclear Waste Reporter" and "Education Technology News"), also in 2006; OneOnOne Computer Training from Mosaic Media (Glen Ellyn, IL) in 2005; and, Element K journals (Rochester, NY), including 41 computer technology subscription journal titles, in second half 2005.

Other Eli units include Eli Healthcare, Eli Financial, Eli Education, Travel Research Bureau, National Litigation Bureau, BCC Research, Buzz Publishing, Dartnell, and Pinnacle Publishing. BIA said the "healthcare information sector is large and growing. BIA was attracted to the diverse product offering that Eli provides to tens of thousands of healthcare professionals."
