BI2 Technologies Announces Partnership with Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians to Utilize Iris Recognition Technology.

PLYMOUTH, Mass. -- BI2 Technologies and the Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians (OAOP), announced that they will work together to increase the use of Iris Biometric Recognition Technology to find missing children and adults.

The focus of their efforts will be The Children's Identification and Location Database (CHILD) Project. The CHILD Project is a secure nationwide network and registry that locates and positively identifies missing persons through iris biometric recognition technology, which captures a high-resolution digital photograph of an individual's iris. The system is already in place in the Oklahoma and Tulsa County Sheriffs' Offices and it is the goal of the OAOP to expand this into a state-wide effort. The OAOP is at the forefront of the national optometric industry and is recognized as an industry leader.

Developed by BI2 Technologies, the easy-to-use systems have been installed in 25 states since the program was first launched two years ago. BI2 Technologies uses a specialized video camera to capture a detailed close-up of a person's iris and then system's biometric software makes a template or 'map' of each iris pattern, for storage in the registry. To verify identity later, an individual simply looks back into an iris camera, and the system compares the patterns in the individual's iris against the templates stored in the system. If there's a match, the identity is verified within seconds.
