Austrian electric company positioned to expand role as a

multi-utility selects next generation solution

for integrated asset management

Intergraph Utilities (Nasdaq: INGR) announced today that the company has signed a contract with BEWAG (Burgenlandische Elektrizitatswirtschafts-Aktiengesellschaft) for a multi-phase implementation of G/Technology, Intergraph's next-generation utility GIS based on industry best practices. BEWAG serves 135,000 energy customers and is headquartered in Eisenstadt, the capital city of Burgenland, a popular wine-producing region in Austria. The initial phase of the project includes 15 G/Electric Designer seats, 50 G/NetViewer licenses, an interface to the SAP R/3 enterprise system, and implementation services.

According to Peter Sinowatz, head of BEWAG's Technical Department, "Along with the new Austrian deregulated electric power market, comes the prerequisite that companies grow more agile and operationally efficient. BEWAG is a traditional electric power distribution company; however, we are intent upon ensuring market share and expanding our business by becoming a multi-utility that can also provide gas, communications, water, and wastewater services."

BEWAG's goal is to achieve a best practice, integrated asset management system. G/Technology provides an integrated Geospatial Resource Management environment, where pre-integrated solutions allow a seamless workflow among applications that provision and maintain a company's service-delivery network. G/Technology represents commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software, which is based on standard, non-proprietary programming tools and offers high performance and scalability.
