Debra L. Lee announced today that the company has appointed Byron Marchant, 39, to the position of senior vice president and general counsel, effective May 12. Marchant had been a partner in the Washington, D.C. based law firm, Patton Boggs LLP LLP - Lower Layer Protocol , where he provided counsel to BET on various projects. In his new position, Marchant will oversee all of the legal affairs of BET Holdings and its subsidiaries, including the BET Cable Network, and he will report directly to Lee.
