BERNARD FLYNN'S ALL THE WEEKEND VERDICTS: Tyrone have guile to end Farney's fun; TYRONE v MONAGHAN.Byline: BERNARD FLYNN Bernard Flynn is a retired inter-county Irish Gaelic footballer for County Meath in Ireland. He enjoyed much success play inter-county football in the eighty's & early ninety's on the Meath team's managed by Sean Boylan. For Meath he usually played at Full Forward. MONAGHAN are back in Croker to face Tyrone for a place in the quarter-final. This is a big game for both teams, for different reasons. Tyrone, who blew the Ulster Ulster, northernmost of the historic provinces of Ireland. Modern Ulster consists of nine counties. Six (Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Derry, and Tyrone) now make up Northern Ireland (see Ireland, Northern), which is often referred to as Ulster; the remaining final on two occasions - they had both games done and dusted, only to fall apart in the final 15 minutes - will be anxious to rectify rec·ti·fy v. 1. To set right; correct. 2. To refine or purify, especially by distillation. this situation Players like Mulligan, Canavan, Dooher and Penrose are not near their Championship best. Monaghan, while they won Division Two, had only one big test since then against Derry. This they failed miserably on all accounts. This Monaghan team is young, and they will benefit enormously from being in Division One. There is lots of potential in this Monaghan team; the Freeman's, Coyle, Clerkin and Woods have come a long way. However, what they experienced against Meath will only have been an appetiser compared to what Tyrone will dish out to them. Tyrone have to send out a warning of intent and they will get back to winning ways by five or six points. CAPTION(S): ANOTHER CHANCE: Mulligan |
