BERNARD FLYNN'S ALL THE WEEKEND VERDICTS: Cork to quell Tribe attack; CORK v GALWAY.

Byline: BERNARD FLYNN Bernard Flynn is a retired inter-county Irish Gaelic footballer for County Meath in Ireland. He enjoyed much success play inter-county football in the eighty's & early ninety's on the Meath team's managed by Sean Boylan. For Meath he usually played at Full Forward.

THE purists who enjoy fast flowing football with no pulling and dragging may find just that if they tune into this fixture at the weekend. This may well be the game of the weekend, two attacking teams who play total football, more or less.

Two teams in transition, both doing their best to blend new blooded youth with existing experience. Galway's win over Mayo was not pretty but it was so vital to the overall development of the squad. Admittedly Mayo were pathetic on the day, so that will not suffice next Sunday against Cork.

Galway wasted many chances with Donnellan, in particular, and Padraig Joyce kicking some shocking wides.

Yet most, or nearly all their good work went through both players; they are so instrumental, along with Meehan, Armstrong and Clancy. They are facing a defence of some stature. This is key to Cork winning. Galway being Galway will always win plenty of ball, especially in Croke Park Croke Park (Irish: Páirc an Chrócaigh) in Dublin, Ireland is the largest sports stadium in Ireland and the principal stadium and headquarters of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA), Ireland's biggest sporting organisation. .

So if Cork are to win they must contain the Galway forwards - Canty, Lynch, O'Leary, Sexton and Guery will not be easily played. They are settled, solid and tight. It's the Galway forwards who will have pressure.

Midfield will break even I believe, so if Joyce, Donnellan, Savage and Meehan can reinvent re·in·vent
