BENCHMARQ Microelectronics announces that it has filed a declaratory judgment action against Dallas Semiconductor.


DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 18, 1997--BENCHMARQ Microelectronics Inc. ("BENCHMARQ") Tuesday announced that it has filed a declaratory judgment action against Dallas Semiconductor Corp. ("DSC (1) (Digital Signal Controller) A microcontroller and DSP combined on the same chip. BENCHMARQ had previously sought declaratory relief in a similar action, which was dismissed on June 25, 1996, based on DSC's assurance to the court that it had not charged BENCHMARQ with patent infringement. The parties failed to reach agreement in subsequent negotiations.

BENCHMARQ does not believe that it has violated any of the patents asserted by DSC and intends to vigorously pursue its case in the Sherman court.
