BELLSOUTH TELECOMMUNICATIONS DETAILS REDEMPTION OF DEBENTURE ISSUES

 ATLANTA, June 9 /PRNewswire/ -- BellSouth Telecommunications, Inc., a subsidiary of BellSouth Corporation (NYSE: BLS), announced the following details concerning the redemption of three debenture issues on July 12.
 The company announced yesterday that it will sell 40 Year Debentures and 11 Year Notes, the proceeds of which will be used to refinance the three debenture issues.
 The issues being redeemed are:
 -- Forty Year 10 3/8 percent Debentures due December 30, 2025, in
 aggregate principal amount of $250,000,000 issued by South
 Central Bell Telephone Company ("South Central Bell"). The
 redemption price will be 107.96 percent of the principal amount
 plus accrued interest to the redemption date. The name and
 address of the paying agent is: AmSouth Bank, National
 Association, P.O. Box 11426, Birmingham, AL 35202; and
 -- Thirty-Six Year 7 3/8 percent Debentures due November 1, 2007,
 in aggregate principal amount of $100,000,000 issued by South
 Central Bell. The redemption price will be 102.10 percent of
 the principal amount plus accrued interest to the redemption
 date. The name and address of the paying agent is: The Bank
 of New York, P.O. Box 11249, Church Street Station, Bond
 Redemption Unit - 11E, New York, NY 10286; and
 -- Thirty-One Year 6 7/8 percent Debentures due November 1, 1999,
 in aggregate principal amount of $85,000,000 issued by South
 Central Bell. The redemption price will be 100.46 percent of the
 principal amount plus accrued interest to the redemption date.
 The name and address of the paying agent is: The Bank of New
 York, P.O. Box 11249, Church Street Station, Bond Redemption
 Unit - 11E, New York, NY 10286.
