BELLSOUTH OFFERS CELLULAR SERVICE TO JOURNALISTS IN GUADALAJARA
As you know, the Guadalajara explosions caused severe damage to the telephone system in that city, making communications virtually impossible.
If you are sending journalists to Guadalajara, we would like to help you by providing cellular service to your crews. BellSouth's subsidiary in Guadalajara, Comcel, was unaffected by the explosions and continues to provide cellular service.
Journalists wishing to obtain cellular service during their stay should contact Comcel, Av. Lazaro Cardenas No. 3438, Colonia Chapalita, Guadalajara, phone 52-36-47-75-50 or 52-36-47-76-00. The customer service center will remain open around the clock while the emergency situation persists. For further assistance in Guadalajara, contact Comcel's Director of Operations Daniel Morales at 52-36-47-75-00.
As cellular phones are becoming scarce, we suggest bringing a set from the U.S. which Comcel will gladly reprogram for use in Guadalajara.
CONTACT: Maria Schnabel, 404-249-4877 (office) or 404-881-0047 (after hours), or Pat Hammerstrom, 404-249-4865 (office) or 404-728-1409 (after hours), both of BellSouth/
