"The information we got was that it wasn't in his interests to come down and play. But this is not an entirely new situation for us to be without him.

"For a country which has always had centre forwards in abundance, it's strange at this time we don't have those kind of players.

"But Sam, Ched and Simon have a terrific chance and 12 years or so ahead at them."
