BELL PAYS TRIBUTE TO 'KINGO' Game in shock after Mills player dies in PSNI tragedy.

Byline: BY MARTIN MAWHINNEY

TRIBUTES have been flooding in for the Drumaness Mills striker who so tragically died in a road accident at the weekend.

Kevin "Kingo" Gorman was one of four policemen "The Four Policemen" was a term coined by U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt, to refer to the four major Allies of World War II and founders of the United Nations (UN): the United States, United Kingdom, Soviet Union, and China.  killed in an horrific hor·rif·ic

accident on the road between Rostrevor and Warrenpoint while on their way to answer a call for help from a colleague during the early hours of Sunday.

Before beginning his shift on Saturday, Kevin turned out for Drumaness' seconds and netted one of the goals in a 2-2 draw with Dunmurry YM.

But, as Mills manager Donal Bell, inset, underlined, what happened only a few hours later puts everything into context.

He said: "I read in one of the papers the other day, Gianfranco Zola Gianfranco Zola OBE (born July 5, 1966 in Oliena, Sardinia) is a retired Italian footballer. He spent the first decade of his career in Italy, most notably with Napoli and Parma, before moving to English side Chelsea, where he was voted Football Writers' Player of the Year in 1997.  said that we take football too seriously sometimes - we are all guilty of it. Whenever something like this happens you realise it is only a game." Kevin played mostly for the Mills seconds but Bell was close to the young player that had grown up with his own children in the village and who had also played under him during his time as Kilmore Rec manager.

with messages of support and added: "It is emotional in football but all of our thoughts are with his mother. She brought him and his brother up and she should be so proud.

"Kingo was such a nice guy. He had a quiet reserved side to him but when he was surrounded by his mates he was as lively as anybody.

"Two words sum him up - respect and loyalty. That is something you can't take for granted in life, let alone football. The whole village feels his loss very keenly."

Drumaness have cancelled training this evening while the seconds have cancelled their game on Saturday as a mark of respect.

The first team's Intermediate Cup game with Glentoran II will go ahead as planned.

"He would have been the first to say the football should go on," added Bell.
