BELL ATLANTIC AUDISSEY PHONE FREES CUSTOMERS' HANDS AND FEET

ARLINGTON, Va., Jan. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- A new Bell Atlantic (NYSE: BELL) product may remedy a common problem associated with telephoning: the pain in the neck.
The Audissey(TM) EarPhone, a unique new Bell Atlantic(R) brand telephone, replaces the traditional phone handset with a tiny, lightweight earpiece-microphone unit. The product leaves both of the customer's hands free for, say, handling office files or kitchen utensils while talking on the phone.
That's good news for those people accustomed to cradling the phone receiver between head and shoulder while they talk -- and experiencing cramps and kinks in their necks afterwards.
The Audissey EarPhone is among the latest members of the new line of Bell Atlantic(R) Champion(TM) Products, announced earlier this year.
Bell Atlantic Network Services, Inc. will begin taking orders from retail distributors for the Audissey EarPhone and the other Champion Products January 7 at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
Light, inconspicuous, and easily fitting in either ear, the Audissey EarPhone includes a half-inch boom microphone, little bigger than a match stick, that picks up the voice superbly while excluding most extraneous noise.
The new telephone frees not only the hands, but the feet as well. Audissey EarPhone Models 800 and 820 both come with light, 15-foot cords that give the telephone user plenty of leeway for walking while talking.
The wide range of features built into the Model 800 includes on/off button, flash button, last number redial, and volume controls. The Model 820 includes all of these features and adds a speaker phone option.
All Bell Atlantic Champion Products are subjected to rigorous testing by GTE TestMark Laboratories of Lexington, Kentucky, prior to their market release. Bell Atlantic also backs all Champion Products with a toll-free 800 customer assistance line and a two-year limited warranty.
