 BELL ATLANTIC APPOINTS NEW PRESIDENT-INFORMATION SERVICES
 PHILADELPHIA, July 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Bell Atlantic Corporation (NYSE: BEL) today announced that Arthur A. Bushkin has been appointed to the newly created position of president-information services of Bell Atlantic Network Services, Inc. Bushkin has the responsibility for formulating and directing Bell Atlantic's strategies for information services, a new area in which the company is committed to achieve growth and profitability.

 Over the course of the past 12 years, Bushkin, age 49, worked with many local and long-distance carriers, equipment suppliers and large technology users in areas of strategy, marketing, business and product development and organizational effectiveness. In 1988, he joined A.T. Kearney, Inc., an international management consulting firm, where he was a vice president and partner in the telecommunications industry group. In 1981, Bushkin founded Telemation Associates, Inc., a consulting firm in Washington, D.C., specializing in international telecommunications strategy, policy, and business development.
 In 1977, he joined the National Telecommunications and Information Administration of the U.S. Department of Commerce, where he held several positions involving information, computer, and telecommunications policy. In 1976, he was a staff member of the U.S. Privacy Protection Study Commission in Washington, D.C.
 A native of Chicago, Bushkin graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1965 with a B.S. in Mathematics. He later received an M.S. and an E.E. in electrical engineering from M.I.T. He was on the faculty at M.I.T. and Wellesley College, where he taught computer science. Bushkin has published and spoken extensively on a wide variety of subjects here and abroad.
 Bushkin and his wife, Kathy, have two children and reside in McLean, Va.
