BELL ADMITS TEST RECALL COULD BE SOME WAY OFF.

Byline: PAUL BOLTON

WARWICKSHIRE batsman Ian Bell Ian Bell can refer to:

" if he was to be included in England's side for the opening match of the Ashes series This is a list of Ashes cricket series played between Australia and England. Most Ashes series have consisted of five Test matches between the two countries. The Ashes series with the fewest Test matches was the 1887-88 Ashes series, consisting of only one Test.  in Cardiff next month.

Bell has not played for England since he was dropped after the first Test debacle in Jamaica in February, though he was recalled to the squads for the second Test against the West Indies West Indies, archipelago, between North and South America, curving c.2,500 mi (4,020 km) from Florida to the coast of Venezuela and separating the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico from the Atlantic Ocean.  at Riverside last month and the one-day series that followed.

But Bell was again left out of the Test side and was twelfth man twelfth man

"I don't think what I do with Warwickshire in the next month will make any difference to the Ashes XI," Bell said. "I would be amazed if I was in the squad for Cardiff.

"I think they have picked that already. The way things are shaping up it looks like I am going to be playing a lot of cricket for Warwickshire this summer so my main focus will be on scoring as many runs as I can for them.

"If I start thinking that I must score runs for Warwickshire in the next few games to get back in the England side it will only put things in my way."

In the past month Bell has clocked up more miles than he has runs, travelling almost 2,500 in a chaotic schedule that included his wasted trip to Chester-le-Street, a long drive down to Taunton from Durham and a trip to Edinburgh with Warwickshire.

Bell can now look forward to a month of home comforts as Warwickshire have two home County Championship matches against Nottinghamshire, which began yesterday, and Durham on June 16.

"It's difficult to know with Twenty20 whether you are in form or not," Bell said. "I certainly feel like I have hit the ball well in the games that I have played..

"But it will be nice to be able to have the opportunity to spend a bit longer in the middle now that we are back to four-day cricket.

"The pitches at Edgbaston have been pretty flat so far this season and good for batting on.

Opportunity "I think we are trying to get them to turn a bit on day three or four to get our two spinners into the game a bit.

"Now that Mushtaq Ahmed Mushtaq Ahmed (Urdu: مشتاق احمد) (born 28 June, 1970 in Sahiwal) is a Pakistani cricketer, more specifically a leg spin bowler. He is known for his hard-to-pick googly.  has retired, there isn't really a mystery spinner around on the county circuit so, if the pitches do start to turn a bit, hopefully our spinners will be in a position to win us a few games." There will also be an opportunity for Bell to nudge the national selectors on July 1, though whether he will play for Warwickshire against England in their Ashes warmup game at Edgbaston or for the England Lions against Australia at New Road remains to be seen.

"I'll play wherever the selectors tell me to go, but I suppose the Lions match is an opportunity to go away and score some runs against Australia," he said.

"I'll wait and see what they decide but, wherever I am, I'll be trying to score runs."
