BEFORE THE FALL.PALMDALE - Palmdale's 20th annual Fall Festival opens today in a new location and with more entertainment. Headlining will be Southern rock band .38 Special at 5:30 p.m. today, followed by a stage show called ``Illumination'' at 7:15 p.m. and a new fireworks fireworks: see pyrotechnics. fireworks Explosives or combustibles used for display. Of ancient Chinese origin, fireworks evidently developed out of military rockets and explosive missiles and accompanied the spread of military explosives westward to show at 7:45 p.m. The festival runs from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the newly enlarged Marie Kerr Park, 2723 Rancho Vista Blvd. Singers, bands, dancers and other entertainers will perform on 11 stages. Acts slated to perform both days include The Beach Toys, Mariachi mariachi Traditional Mexican street ensemble. The performer, the musical style, and the musical ensemble are called mariachi. Mariachi music emerged in the late 1700s or early 1800s.
