BECHTEL ENGINEERS STAGING TEACH-IN FOR NATIONAL ENGINEERS WEEK
SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Approximately 170 Bechtel engineers, including Steve Bechtel Jr., chairman emeritus of Bechtel Group Inc., will visit 120 Bay Area schools as part of local National Engineers Week observances.
National Engineers Week runs from Feb. 16 to 22, with the theme "Engineers: Turning Ideas into Reality."
Bechtel's chairman emeritus will lead an eighth-grade science class from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20, at San Francisco's Benjamin Franklin Middle School. His presentation, which includes a video, will show students how math and science relate to the world around them.
As honorary chairman of National Engineers Week in 1990, Bechtel sponsored its first teach-in, which reached more than 600,000 students in classrooms across the United States.
