BEA Selects Symantec as Strategic Java Tools Partner; BEA, Symantec Cooperate on Joint Development to Integrate BEA M3 with Symantec's Enterprise Tools.

As part of this partnership, BEA BEA - Basic programming Environment for interactive-graphical Applications, from Siemens-Nixdorf.  and Symantec are cooperating on development work to provide integration capabilities between current and future versions of BEA M3(TM), BEA's component middleware platform, and Symantec's enterprise tools, using Symantec's open application programming interface (API) architecture.

The cooperative efforts are intended to provide customers with reduced development times and faster deployment of critical business applications, making use of Java, Symantec's popular development tools, and BEA's scalable, reliable middleware.

To assist with the joint development work, BEA has licensed Symantec's Visual Cafe A family of Java development products formerly from the WebGain division of Symantec and sold to TogetherSoft Corporation in 2002, which was acquired by Borland in 2003. Versions for Windows and the Macintosh were available that included a host of Java components and features for rapidly  for Java(TM), Visual Page, and Symantec C++ development tools. Symantec Visual Cafe for Java is a powerful and complete Java development solution for building Java database solutions.
