BEA Announces BEA TUXEDO for Compaq's Digital OpenVMS.

New Offering Will Enable Customers To Use BEA TUXEDO to Help Further Integrate Compaq Product Family across Enterprise Applications

BEA Systems, Inc., (NASDAQ:BEAS) today announced it has ported its market-leading BEA TUXEDO(R) distributed transaction processing middleware to DIGITAL OpenVMS, the computer operating system now provided by Compaq Computer (NYSE:CPQ) that runs mission-critical enterprise applications for thousands of customers.

By spanning the Compaq product line, BEA TUXEDO can integrate enterprise business solutions based on any Compaq component and enable easy integration between the Compaq environment and other computing systems - open or proprietary, new or legacy. BEA plans to release BEA TUXEDO for OpenVMS by the end of the year.

With the release of the port to OpenVMS, BEA TUXEDO will be available across all Compaq's major operating environments, including both Intel and Alpha Windows NT systems, Digital UNIX, Digital OpenVMS, Tandem NSK systems, and Tandem Non-Stop-UX. OpenVMS customers will also be able to use BEA TUXEDO as the middleware infrastructure for multi-tier enterprise applications, providing impressive performance, scalability, and reliability so organizations can rely on those applications to run their businesses.
