BE Aerospace announces election of new director.


Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS:BEAV BEAV Binary Editor and Viewer ) today announced the election of Brian H. Rowe to its board of directors.

Rowe brings an extensive background in the aerospace industry to his new role as a BEA BEA - Basic programming Environment for interactive-graphical Applications, from Siemens-Nixdorf.  director. Currently Chairman Emeritus of GE Aircraft Engines (GEAE GEAE General Electric Aircraft Engines ), a principal business unit of the General Electric Co., he also served as chairman of GEAE from 1993 to 1995 and as president from 1990 to 1993. He began his career in 1947 as an engineer with the English-based deHavilland Engine Co. After joining General Electric in 1957, he rose steadily through various GE aerospace operations holding increasingly responsible executive positions, including engineering manager at the Aircraft Engine Group's Lynn, Mass. plant, general manager of the CF6 Project Department, vice president and general manager of the Commercial Engine Projects Division, VP and general manager of the Airline Programs Division, and VP and general manager of the Aircraft Engineering Division.

Rowe received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering with honors from Kings College -- Durham University in 1955. He is a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society Founded in 1866 The Royal Aeronautical Society, also known as the RAeS, is a multidisciplinary professional institution dedicated to the global aerospace community.  and American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) is the professional society for the field of aerospace engineering. The AIAA was founded in 1963 from the merger of four earlier societies: the American Rocket Society (ARS), founded in 1930 as the , and a member of the National Academy of Engineering. He was awarded the Legion D'Honneur by the French Government in 1985. He was also awarded an Honorary Degree of Doctor in Science and Technology from the University of Cincinnati The University of Cincinnati is a coeducational public research university in Cincinnati, Ohio. Ranked as one of America’s top 25 public research universities and in the top 50 of all American research universities,[2]  in 1987.

In addition to serving as Chairman Emeritus of GE Aircraft Engines, Rowe is a member of the board of directors of Astrostructures Hamble Limited, a manufacturer of military and civil aircraft components; Atlas Air Atlas Air is an American cargo airline based in Purchase, New York, United States. It operates scheduled freight flights on an ACMI contract basis for some of the world's leading airlines, flying to 101 cities in 46 countries.  Inc., an air cargo carrier; Fifth Third Bank, an Ohio banking corporation; and Stewart & Stevenson Services Inc., a custom packager of engine systems for the generation of electrical and mechanical power.
