BDM SHAREHOLDERS HEAR PROJECTIONS OF RECORD BUSINESS IN 1993

MCLEAN, Va., May 17 /PRNewswire/ -- BDM International, Inc. (BDM) expects total revenue in 1993 to exceed $475 million, President and Chief Executive Officer Philip A. Odeen told attendees at the company's annual shareholders meeting today. Odeen said that the anticipated revenue significantly exceeds the 1992 total of $424.4 million and will mark the second record-setting year in a row for the diversified technology services company.
In presentations by Odeen and Chief Financial and Administrative Officer Michael J. Mruz, the high business volume was attributed to major new contract awards in the governmental sector, increases expected by Vinnell Corporation (acquired in March 1992), and growth in the company's commercial sector business. The company established a subsidiary, BDM Technologies, Inc., to address commercial markets earlier this year.
By far the greatest growth contributor, however, is federal government business served by the company's largest subsidiary, BDM Federal, Inc. More than $330 million in new contract awards was booked in the first quarter, largely from BDM Federal initiatives.
The shareholders meeting was marked by retirement from the board of directors of F.N. "Red" Hofer, a former senior executive of BDM, and recognition by Odeen of BDM Market Cluster Leaders and Business Unit General Mangers and their contributions to the success of the reorganization and restructuring of BDM which began late last year.
Re-elected to the board of directors were Frank C. Carlucci (chairman), William E. Conway Jr. (vice chairman), James A.D. Geier, Arthur Levitt Jr., Drs. Hans Mark, Mruz, Odeen, Thomas G. Ricks, David M. Rubenstein, John M. Slosar, Helmut Sonnenfeldt, Dr. William E. Sweeney Jr., and Earle C. Williams.
BDM International, Inc., is headquartered in McLean (Metropolitan Washington). The company provides scientific, engineering, technical and expert services to public sector clients in national defense, transportation, communications, energy, logistics, environment, space, information systems, advanced technology, manufacturing technology, systems integration, product distribution, operations and maintenance, and public policy. The company has approximately 4,600 employees and operates in more than 60 worldwide locations.
