BDM NET INCOME, EPS DOUBLE IN FIRST QUARTER
MCLEAN, Va., May 12 /PRNewswire/ -- BDM Holdings, Inc., parent

company of both BDM International, Inc., and recently acquired Vinnell Corporation, today announced first quarter 1992 financial results showing higher revenues and sharply higher net income and earnings per share, compared with the first quarter of 1991.
Revenue for BDM Holdings increased 9 percent to $80.9 million for the three months ended March 31, 1992, compared with $74.3 million last year. BDM International's revenue grew, and Vinnell, which was a subsidiary for less than one month of the first quarter, contributed modestly to the 1992 first quarter revenue total. BDM Holdings' net income for the quarter more than doubled from $562,000 (7 cents per share) in 1991 to $1,772,000 (15 cents per share) in 1992.
Philip A. Odeen, president and CEO of the professional and technical services company, noted that BDM Holdings continued to pay down its bank debt well ahead of schedule. BDM had borrowed $72 million in October 1990 to finance the acquisition from its former parent company and an additional $25 million in March 1992 to finance the Vinnell investment. By April 30, BDM had paid down its total bank debt to $37.5 million, Odeen noted.
BDM Holdings is a partially employee-owned company operating autonomously in association with The Carlyle Group, L.P. Carlyle led the investor group (which included senior BDM management) that acquired the company. Frank C. Carlucci, vice chairman of Carlyle, serves as chairman of the board of directors of BDM Holdings.
Odeen assumed the position of president and CEO of BDM on May 1. His charter is to quicken BDM's diversification and expansion into commercial and international markets, according to Carlucci, who said, "Philip Odeen will add new dimensions to the future status and stature of our company while carrying forward the BDM banners of excellence, industry leadership, and quality growth."
BDM Holdings, Inc., is headquartered in McLean (Metropolitan Washington). The company's operating subsidiaries, BDM International, Inc., and Vinnell Corporation, provide professional and technical services to public and private sector clients in defense, communications, logistics, energy, the environment, space, transportation, manufacturing, product distribution, operations and maintenance, training, and public policy.
