BDM AWARDED $33 MILLION ARMY TRAINING SUPPORT CONTRACT
MCLEAN, Va., March 26 /PRNewswire/ -- BDM International, Inc. (BDM), has been awarded a training support contract by the U.S. Army valued at about $33 million to provide a wide range of planning, technical, and analytical assistance to the Joint Readiness Training Center (JRTC) at Fort Chaffee, Ark. The contract extends through Sept. 30, 1995, including a base period and three option years, according to Early C. Williams, president of the professional and technical services company.
The contract calls for BDM to provide total mission support to JRTC beginning at the planning stage and continuing through the conduct of training exercises to the final analysis and reporting phases. Thomas H. McCaig serves as program manager, and the work is performed by BDM Management Services Company (BDMMSC), a subsidiary of BDM. BDMMSC employs approximately 200 people at Fort Chaffee, supported by other BDM offices, operations, and staff as required.
"This important contract was won as the result of an open recompetition," McCaig said, "and we believe that our proposed approach to continuing this support at Fort Chaffee represents the best value to the government."
"Training is a vital key to future Army performance and success," he said, "and we pledge to help the Army provide innovative, cost- effective training to meet the demands of contingencies and conflict situations worldwide."
The JRTC mission, McCaig explained, is to provide advanced unit training to combat units associated with light conventional forces, special operations forces, and the airlift and close air support components of the Air Force. Approximately 10 to 12 field training exercises are conducted annually involving over 50,000 participants. "These exercises are characterized by their battlefield realism, their ability to assess the performance of individual units, and their use of leading edge technology," he said.
BDM International, Inc., is headquartered in McLean. The company provides professional and technical services to public and private sector clients in national defense and security, communications, transportation, energy, logistics, space, information systems, advanced technology, manufacturing technology and certain other areas.
