This radio spectrum in the 1. provider, KG Telecom, has surpassed 500,000 subscribers after just 15 months in operation, while reporting positive EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization) A metric used to show a company's profitability, but not its cash flow. KG Telecom is licensed to provide PCS services in the Northern region of Taiwan, including the capital city of Taipei. Earlier this year, the company acquired an 82 percent interest in Tuntex, an operator servicing the adjacent central and southern regions of the island. Together, the two companies now serve nearly 700,000 subscribers in the 21 million population Taiwanese market. Currently, BCI holds a 10 percent interest in KG Telecom, with an option to increase its stake to 20 percent as and when allowed by Taiwanese foreign ownership rules.
