BCI Announces Appointment of New Chairman and New Chief Financial Officer.

MONTREAL--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 15, 2000

Bell Canada International Inc. ("BCI") (Nasdaq:BCICF)(TSE:BI.) today announced changes to the Company's Board of Directors and senior management.

Effective today, Mr. Bill Anderson has joined the Board of Directors and has been elected Chairman of the Board of BCI. He replaces Mr. Jean Monty, who will remain a Director of the Company and will also be a Director of the newly-formed South-American company, Telecom Americas Ltd.

Mr. Anderson, who joined BCE in 1992, is president of BCE Ventures and was formerly the Chief Financial Officer of BCE Inc. BCE Ventures is the strategic investment unit of BCE whose investments include BCI.

BCI also announced that Mr. Howard Hendrick has been appointed Executive Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer of the Company, effective January 15, 2001. Mr. Hendrick will be replacing Mr. Siim Vanaselja, who will be assuming the position of Chief Financial Officer of BCI's majority shareholder, BCE Inc., effective the same day.

Mr. Hendrick brings to the position of CFO nearly a quarter century of financial experience in the BCE group of companies, serving most recently as the Vice-President, Finance for Bell ActiMedia Inc. and Chief Financial Officer of Sympatico-Lycos Inc. He holds an MBA from York University of Toronto and is a Certified Management Accountant.
