For employers, the exchange will reduce the costs of processing and adjudicating claims. Health claims will include drug, dental, vision, hospital, supplementary health care, out of country and health care spending account claims.

The first phase of the e-health claims exchange will go online by the end of May this year. Functionality will expand over the coming months, with the exchange becoming fully functional at the end of 2002 for all health insurance companies involved.
