Monty as president and chief operating officer Chief Operating Officer (COO) The officer of a firm responsible for day-to-day management, usually the president or an executive vice-president. of the Corporation, succeeding Ronald W. Osborne, who has been president, BCE Inc. since May, 1996. Monty was previously vice-chairman and chief executive officer, Northern Telecom Limited. His new appointment is effective Oct. 1, 1997.
