BCC'S 10K AND 15K EXTENDER DISK DRIVES -EDD- NOW SUPPORT HIGH-SPEED LINK WITHIN ISERIES MODELS.BCC BCC - Blind Carbon Copy (email addressee field) BCC - Blind Courtesy Copy (email addressee field) BCC - Baby Care Children BCC - Bachman's Custom Cycles BCC - Bacup Cricket Club BCC - Badge Collectors Circle BCC - Baldwin County Commission BCC - Ballarat and Clarendon College (Ballarat, Australia) BCC - Balochi, Southern (SIL code, Pakistan) BCC - Baltic Committee BCC - Banca di Credito Cooperativo BCC - Bangalore City Corporation Technologies, long-time provider of storage solutions for the IBM iSeries An Integrated Database The iSeries (AS/400) family has always been unique because it included an integrated database with the system. The integrated database evolved from IBM's System/38, introduced in 1978. AS/400 to iSeries to i5 In 2004, IBM introduced the eServer i5, once again, changing the name of the line. i5 servers use the POWER5 CPU. See i5 and AS/400. marketplace, has announced their 10K RPM and 15K RPM Extender(TM) Disk Drive (EDD) family now supports all models of IBM's iSeries and AS/400 mid-range computers. This complete support of the iSeries is based on newly added connectivity of BCC's disks with IBM's High Speed Link (HSL HSL - Hue, Saturation, Lightness HSL - Hazard Significant Level HSL - Hazardous Substance List HSL - Health and Safety Laboratory (United Kingdom) HSL - Health Service Laboratory HSL - Helicopter Anti-Submarine Warfare Squadron Light HSL - Helicopter Antisubmarine Squadron Light (US Navy) HSL - Helicopter Antisubmarine Warfare Light HSL - HERMES Softlab HSL - High Speed Link HSL - Hoge Snelheids Lijn (Dutch train) HSL - Home Station Launch) that provides the fastest attachment of disks to the iSeries. With this announcement, BCC's EDD family of disk systems now runs on all models of the iSeries that support IBM's super-fast HSL technology for maximum data throughput, including the 270, 820, 830 and 840 iSeries plus 5074 and 5079 Storage Towers. The new level of performance in HSL technology is designed to use high-performance and high-capacity disks to support demanding applications on the iSeries like ERP, CRM, SCM and Collaborative Computing. "BCC's full support for HSL connectivity means that we can now provide the fastest versions of the iSeries platform with the fastest disk subsystems available," said John Gimpl III, vice president of sales at BCC Technologies. "Our 10K and 15K EDD disks provide response-time improvements of as much as 177 percent over any alternative, making BCC the alternate choice of record today for iSeries users." BCC is the only manufacturer of internal disk See internal drive. for the iSeries besides IBM, and the only maker of both disk and tape products for the iSeries. This positions BCC to take full advantage of the demand for high-performance storage in IBM's iSeries market today. HSL technology currently supports up to 1,080 disk drives. Using IBM's 17GB 10K RPM drives, the investment is $2,721,600 ($2,520 list/drive) and performance is 69,120 Operations Per Second (64 OPS/drive). By contrast, 1,080 BCC 17GB 10K RPM drives cost $1,512,000 (a savings of $1,209,600) and deliver 84,240 OPS (29 percent greater performance). Using faster BCC 17GB drives with 15K RPM rotational velocity costs $2.16 million (a savings of $561,600) and deliver 123,120 OPS (78 percent greater than the IBM offering). |
